All that negativity isn't very much fun, for one thing. It's impossible to be very happy about things if you're filling your mind with worry, doom and gloom. It's also hard to see the good things that are already in your life if you're worrying about those things going away.

And the truth is the more you think negatively, the more negative effects you're going to see in your life. You might find that after a day of negativity you're actually feeling physically sick like you have a cold coming on. This isn't your imagination, it's a real physical manifestation of your negative thoughts, and a clear example of how we're able to influence our environment and what happens to us through our thoughts and feelings.

On the flip side we can also influence what happens to us in a positive way, though positive thinking and feelings. Focusing on the good that is already in our lives and thinking about the greater good that will come to us in the future, the goals we want to achieve and the things we want to have, will make more good things come into our lives.

The key is to focus on what it is that you want in your life, not what you don't want. Clearly we all want security, peace and stability in our lives, our jobs and our families, but all too often we think about what would happen if those things were taken away from us. We dwell on lost jobs, illness and divorce, and those negative thoughts and feelings just bring more negative energy into our lives.

If you want to feel more positive, think more positive thoughts. If you want more goodness in your life, think about the good things you have and how you'd like your life to be. Imagine a life that is calm, a job that provides all the money you need and a family that is happy, and that is what you will have.

Positive thinking isn't just a way to make you feel better in hard times (though it will do that). It's a concrete thing that you can do to turn your life around, no matter how crazily things are swirling around you.

During one of my biology classes in college we were asked to analyze the ingredients which were found in a simple, common, everyday food. Much to my surprise was one of the ingredients which I found contained in a loaf of bread.

Take any bread and read the ingredient list. For our sample we will use a generic 100 percent whole wheat bread. At first it sounds like it would be very beneficial for our health however upon reading the raw products list we quickly discover other wise. Ingredients on the bread wrapper state that it is made from the usual whole wheat flour, sugar, water, yeast, wheat gluten, soybean or canola oil, salt, citric acid, sodium and a host of other minor products, some being familiar while other may not so well-recognized.

One of the ingredients that caught my attention was something called azodicarbonamide. Azodicarbonamide is a product which is generally used in the manufacturing of PVC piping and it is an active agent in the foamed plastics and rubber industry. Typical products which contain this chemical include sealing gaskets, automotive padded floor mats, exercise mats and rubber shoe soles.

My first reaction to this chemical which I discovered in my loaf of bread was why is it used at all. I have found that generally anything put in food which is unpronounceable by the common person is not healthy for you. Unfortunately, I was proved correct in my assumption with this product. The World Health Organization has stated that azodicarbonamide is a respiratory sensitizer which is capable of causing drastic respiratory illnesses to workers who have been exposed to it.

Azodicarbonamide is in reality a synthetic chemical used as a human food additive. When used in this manner it is referred to as E927. We find this chemical used as not only a food additive, but as a flour bleaching agent as well. In effect it acts as an oxidizing agent and reacts accordingly with the moist flour of the dough.

As I noticed it being added to my bread my initial question was whether it is safe or not? The manufacturer of the bread places azodicarbonamide in the dough to maintain a spongy feeling in the final product. Further research has revealed that the chemical has been banned from many foreign countries as an unsafe addition to food. In Singapore if you are caught using this chemical in food you are liable for a fine of $450,000 dollars and a prison term of up to 15 years. Australia as well has placed a ban on this chemical as have most European nations. America so far has not placed any restrictions on this product and it is allowed to be added to human food at a rate of 45 parts per million.

In support of the idea that this chemical is unsafe in foods it is wrongly been proclaimed that azodicarbonamide completely decomposed into harmless chemicals during the baking process. This is simply not true and the final bread product is harmful to humans. It is believed that the primary reason that it is disapproved in European nations is because it is an oxidizer and as such if consumed it creates free radicals within the body which contribute to cancer formation. As health conscious people we should be up in arms with our government for allowing this hazardous chemical to be fed to our families in our food.

You may be asking yourself what you can do since bread is a mainstream staple around the world. First off, always read the package to see what chemicals are in the food you are about to buy. Stop purchasing and consuming any baked produce which contains azodicarbonamide. Avoid fast food establishments such as Subway, Burger King, Dunkin Donuts, McDonald's, KFC and the string of other fast food enterprise. Since you must have bread you are presented with several options. You can purchase the higher priced organic breads or you can simply bake your own.

American presidents care very much about being able to wage war without asking permission. And they do just that with great regularity to the dismay of much the rest of the world.

The War Powers Act was passed as a weak measure to reign in President Nixon, whose secret wars in Cambodia and Laos were conducted in parallel with the Vietnam War, itself undeclared. President Nixon so opposed the Act that he vetoed it, but his veto was overturned by more than two thirds of Congress.

Which brings us to Libya. American forces have participated in a war against the regime of Libyan dictator Gaddafi. Nearly a billion dollars has been spent. While other countries have taken the lead, U.S. naval and air forces have been very active, American drones fire massive quantities of missiles, and it is an open secret that CIA paramilitary forces are on the ground.

President Obama does not believe that these activities require any approval from Congress under the War Powers Act because they do not rise to the level of "hostilities". Tell that to Gaddafi!

We now know, based on reporting by Charles Savage at the New York Times, that President Obama overruled the advice of his Attorney General, the chief lawyer of the Defense Department, and the head of the Office of Legal Counsel in the Justice Department.

President Obama, in what can only be described as opinion shopping, preferred the views of the legal advisor at the State Department, the in house counsel at the White House (a specialist in election law) and his own point of view.

This serves the nation badly, regardless of what one thinks of the U.S. intervention in Libya. We quite reasonably fear a president who acts as a commander in chief above the law.

That we do so is so is not a partisan point of view, nor an isolationist point of view. One might think that Michelle Bachmann, who I think is hot-headed and crazed, if elected president, should not be able to decide that she can direct our forces to attack Mexico, for example, over a dispute over immigration or drugs.

The War Powers Act, born out of great deference to executive power, gives a president 90 days to launch, execute, and fully end a military intervention, whether it is for humanitarian reasons or any other purpose.

Yet President Obama is unwilling to concede the point. We are now past the outer limit. A bipartisan group of members of Congress has filed a lawsuit to force the issue. For the good of the nation, Mr. Obama must seek Congressional approval. If he does not, Congress should halt our participation by cutting off funding. If deference to Mr. Obama prevents even this, a court should grant an emergency hearing on the Congressional lawsuit.

Mexico Stumbles Early but Beats Guatemala

For a good 47 minutes or so at the New Meadowlands Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. on Saturday night, Mexico gave its supporters, the New Meadowlands Stadium crowd and many CONCACAF officials a major league scare.

With all due respect to the hosts, the United States, Mexico is the star of this competition.

It certainly was no coincidence that CONCACAF placed Mexico in some of the biggest stadiums in the competition in communities with huge Latino populations.

The Mexicans consistently fills stadiums from coast-to-coast. From Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, to Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte, N.C., to Soldier Field in Chicago (the final is in the cavernous Rose Bowl in Pasadena, Calif.).

They bring in crowds, make money for the confederation and stir interest and passion, not to mention some drama and sometimes some nervous stomachs.

On Wednesday night, Mexico will meet Honduras in the semifinals at Reliant Stadium, which was close to a sellout on Saturday afternoon. By the time you read this, there probably won't be any seats left, given Saturday night?s results.

With Mexico trailing on a fifth-minute goal by Guatemalan captain Carlos Ruiz, no one left their seats at a packed New Meadowlands Stadium.

For the first time in the tournament, the Mexicans found themselves trailing another team.

That was quite surprising, considering they had routed their three group stage opponents by a combined score of 14-1 with some rousing and entertaining displays.

So, for the first time, Mexico faced some adversity.

That's not the end of the world. Every team has to go through some tough times. And, it's not necessarily how you deal with the highs, it's how you deal with the lows and other challenges that shows your real character.

'El Tri' demonstrated theirs.

After Ruiz caught the Mexicans napping, the sleeping giant awakened. 'El Tri' started to attack and attack and attack, but did not have anything to show for their efforts.

Three minutes after he came on at halftime for Israel Castro, Aldo de Nigris scored in a scramble in the penalty area, a very un-Mexican like goal. But then again, they all count the same.

The Americans' preparations for a talented Jamaican side certainly has not been helped by the absence of standout midfielders Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey, who were given permission by coach Bob Bradley to miss training (Thursday through Saturday), to attend the weddings of their sisters in California and Texas, respectively.

They were expected back late Saturday night or early Sunday morning.

Whether that will affect their or the Americans' performance, remains to be seen.

If the U.S. loses, there is little doubt that Bradley will be under fire and his job in jeopardy. If the U.S. wins, Bradley will coach another day -- in Houston against the quarterfinal survivor between Panama and El Salvador.

Come to think of it, de la Torre's job probably would have been on thin ice had 'El Tri' lost to Guatemala, given the mortality of Mexican national coaches the past two decades.

It's not easy being a Mexican coach with the expectations being so ridiculously high.

Failure is not tolerated.

There are, however, different levels of failure. It's one thing to lose to the U.S. in the Gold Cup final. It's another to fall to Guatemala in the quarterfinals.

But the Mexicans don't have to worry about the latter. They only have to prepare for Honduras in the semifinals at good old reliable Reliant Stadium on Wednesday night as they continue to be the star of the Gold Cup.
